摘要:In this talk, we will introduce a coupling method that integrates local and nonlocal continuum mechanics to predict brittle fractures in heterogeneous materials. The main advantage of this approach is its ability to combine the strengths of classical continuum mechanics and non-local peridynamics, enabling accurate and efficient fracture simulations in heterogeneous materials. These two models are then coupled into a unified system of equations, with a transition region introduced to ensure a smooth connection between them. The convergence of the coupling model to classical continuum mechanics model is demonstrated through rigorous mathematical analysis. This method has been successfully applied to predict damage and fracture in particle-reinforced composites and functionally graded materials, and has also been utilized in the development of industrial fatigue life software FatiSight NX.
